ALL THINGS ARE ECHOES OF THE VOICE FOR GOD

Lesson 51, ACIM Workbook

“You do not seem to doubt the world you see. You do not really question what is shown you through the body’s eyes. Nor do you ask why you believe it, even though you learned a long while since your senses do deceive. That you believe them to the last detail which they report is even stranger, when you pause to recollect how frequently they have been faulty witnesses indeed! Why would you trust them so implicitly? Why but because of underlying doubt which you would hide with show of certainty?

How can you judge? Your judgment rests upon the witness that your senses offer you. Yet witness never falser was than this. But how else do you judge the world you see? You place pathetic faith in what your eyes and ears report. You think your fingers touch reality, and close upon the truth. This is awareness that you understand, and think more real than what is witnessed to by the eternal Voice for God Himself.

Can this be judgment? You have often been urged to refrain from judging, not because it is a right to be withheld from you. You cannot judge. You merely can believe the ego’s judgments, all of which are false. It guides your senses carefully, to prove how weak you are; how helpless and afraid, how apprehensive of just punishment, how black with sin, how wretched in your guilt…

Hear not its voice. The witnesses it sends to prove to you its evil is your own are false, and speak with certainty of what they do not know…”

Two years into a surreal landscape of lockdowns, masks, forced tests and vaccinations, propaganda and censorship have jarred many of us out of what we now view as a lifetime of naive, complacent slumber. Overwhelming the impulse for conformity and comfort, our intuition has compelled us to journey down dark, winding rabbit holes to confront the shadowy agendas and operations that have been controlling and manipulating the world in which we live.

Upon discovering the deceptive powers behind the curtain, many of us have found ourselves mired in a kind of lucid nightmare; while we are aware of the psychological and increasingly very physical programs of control operating behind the scenes, we have continued for the most part to function as characters within the dream, dutifully identified with our allotted roles, reacting to theatrically choreographed events with judgment, fear, or a sense of victimization. Meanwhile, we are fully aware that we are living in a kind of program, and it is only a matter of time until we acknowledge our power as the conscious dreamer, accept responsibility for what we have created, and take over the production.

Lucid dreaming is a powerful analogy for awakening from the matrix; it offers us a window into higher consciousness by enabling us to guide our dreams towards what we would like to experience. As we become aware that we are dreaming, we naturally begin to play with our dreams and eventually to direct them. Instead of being chased by zombies, for example, we can choose to focus on flying, swimming with dolphins, or venturing into space. The dreaming of the world is similar. As we begin to realize we are creating our experience, we can practice shaping it into something much more uplifting and enjoyable, initially transforming our thoughts and perceptions and then eventually manifesting change in the outer world.

Thankfully, this universal dream has been designed in such a way that, as we ever so gradually awaken within it, we are able to feel and sense the light that exists within and beyond it. The more we focus on this light and the subtle sensations of its presence within ourselves and all that we see, the more we are able to let go of the fear programs we were previously unaware of. As we release our fears we also begin to trust that, regardless of how horrific the world might seem, events are playing out as necessary for the greatest good of all. This transformative thought holds the power to free us from the dream, disentangling us from egoic judgment and allowing us the perspective of being in the dream but no longer of it.

The intensity of recent and currently unfolding events confirms that we are offering ourselves the ultimate test, a chance to step into mastery beyond anything the dream can acknowledge. We need only look to the manipulated masses and mainstream propaganda for reminders of what we are awakening from: a matrix that numbs the heart and mind in an effort to convince us that we are merely victims housed in bodies, vulnerable beings doomed to illness and impending separation from all that we love through death.

We have learned much by following our hearts and the glimmers of light that prove we are so much more. In the last two years, perhaps the biggest lesson we have learned is that nothing is as it seems. Conversely, we have learned that anything at all is possible.

In vulnerable moments, when we worry of war, financial collapse, or social control, when the mind gropes for comfort and we reassume our assigned roles, when we fall back into reacting with judgment, believing ourselves to be vulnerable rather than trusting and holding a vision of what we know to be our Truth, may we remember to question everything.

What is this strange, mystical, increasingly surreal world if not a dream? And what are we if not the ultimate dreamer? As The Course in Miracles explains, beneath appearances of darkness and deceit, separation and fear, illness and death, all things appear as “echoes of the Voice for God.”
